2011 Sandy Plains 14U Travel Tryouts
Posted on Monday, July 19 @ 12:03:56 EDT by CoachMark

Travel Team Information Dino writes "We have exciting things going on at Sandy Plains travel baseball including proposed practice sessions with the likes of a former major league pitching coach during the season, as well as other former pro and college coaches and players to work with our players. We believe in using the best outside instruction available in addition to our knowledgeable full time coaching staff for pitching, catching, IF, OF, and hitting. We also have in past years raised $5-8K in funds from running tournaments to offset costs for outside instruction as well as general budget. We want to build Sandy Plains travel back to the Major competitor it was in past years, and get our boys ready for their High School teams. We hope you will consider being a part of the Sandy Plains travel family at the 14U age level.

Our tryouts will be conducted by former college and pro players (Billy Shaughnessy SS; Lassiter HS, Mercer University, and San Diego Padres), (John Michael Vidic P/1B; Lassiter HS, Tulane University), and (Chris Duncan OF; St. Francis HS, Tennessee Temple University)

Combined try outs for 14U Sandy Plains Wildcats & Sandy Plains Prowlers will be on the dates listed below:

Wednesday, July 21 (this week)
Try outs for WED night will begin @ 6pm.
Saturday, July 24 will begin @ 10am
Sunday, July 25 will begin @ 4pm

Both teams, located in Marietta , play out of Harrison Park & are looking to fill out our rosters for the 2011 season. We are looking for strong players & parents who have great attitudes & who want to positively take their baseball knowledge, skills & fundamentals forward this coming season. All try-outs will take place at Harrison Park (Field #6). Harrison Park is located at:

2653 Shallowford Rd
Marietta, GA 30066-3038

Both teams plan to play a limited schedule this coming Fall given the likelihood of overlap with football, lax, other sports, etc. And- finally, both expect to play roughly 55+ games next Spring & Summer, with things wrapping up after the first weekend of July. The goal of both teams will be for the boys to play the “best travel competition” each team can compete against and develop into better baseball players (and competitors) over the course of the entire season. Ultimately, we want to focus on getting all of our players ready for their High School tryouts. Please join us for one, or as many as you can, try out dates listed above - for some solid baseball instruction and an opportunity to try out for the : 2011 Sandy Plains Wildcats and Sandy Plains Prowlers 14U teams.

Please use the contact information below if you have any questions regarding either team AND to communicate that you & your son wish to attend -- in order to ensure proper staffing. Thank you – and, we look forward to seeing you at the ball park !
