The temperature tomorrow will not reach 40 degrees until 10 am. After careful consideration, the following changes are being made to the schedule tomorrow:
Harrison Park - No changes. No games were scheduled to start prior to 10am. However, the Challenger League Games (Bronco Teams) are cancelled.
Sweat Mountain Park - 3 games at 9am and 1 game at 9:30am will be affected, as well as the concession schedule. Here are the changes:
Concessions:
SA1 will work from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
PN1 will work from 3:00 pm until 7:30 pm.
Games: (Time changes ONLY - fields remain the same)
PN2 v. PN11 moves to 4:30 pm on the Lower Field
SN1 v. SN10 moves to 4:30 pm on the Shetland National Field
PN4 v. PN9 moves to 6:00 pm on the Upper Field
ST8 v. ST1 moves to 3:30 pm on Field 4
We have tried to affect the least number of people possible when making these changes. The good news is that it will be a great day for baseball.

Highlights: SPBA Challenger League Gives Opportunities to Special Needs Youths Perhaps the most gratifying thing the Sandy Plains Baseball Association does for the community is provide baseball for special needs youth in our community. All the players, who range in age from five years to 22 years old, get to hit, score runs, and play in the field. And everyone receives a trophy because they are all winners.
Highlights: Jill Wolfe Honored as Cobb County Volunteer of the Year Please join us in congratulating Jill Wolfe who was recognized by the Cobb County Parks and Recreation Department as their county-wide volunteer of the year on Tuesday, February 23, 2010. She earned this award through her tireless work as Auxiliary Chairperson on the Sandy Plains Baseball Association Board of Directors (Board). Jill was already awarded the Sandy Plains Baseball Volunteer of the Year for 2009 – 2010 and had been nominated to the county by SPBA.
In-Park Stuff: SPBA paves the way to a nicer ballpark! Have you ever come home from a night at the ballpark and noticed the gravel dust on your clothes and shoes and wondered who was dustier, you or your little leaguer? Or, just felt the grime on your skin and in your hair?
Highlights: SPBA adds more batting cages Waiting for your time in the batting cage is a part of baseball, at any level. But does it have to mean a long walk from the field to the cages and back again? For our 9 and 10 year olds, we decided in ’09, that the answer was, ‘No’.
Through your membership, SPBA has been blessed with the resources to provide many amenities that are just not available at all parks, and we continue to look for ways to better our baseball complexes.
Field status of all fields as of 10:55 am on March 14, 2010:
All fields at Sweat Mountain Park and Harrison Park are OPEN.
Remember, NO practices or games if the temperature falls below 40 degrees.
REMINDER: When the parks are closed, this means the fields and cages may not be used.
A good faith attempt will be made to update the website by 4:00 pm during the week, by 8:00 am
on Saturday and by noon on Sunday. Any questions regarding the status of your game or practice should be
directed to your team manager. You can always call the SPBA Phone Hotline at 770-281-2850
for the final word!
